Welcome!
Brick Angel Wines are owned and hand crafted by Jason Ball and his wife, Angelique. Our first vintage of Brick Angel Rosé was somewhat of a happy "accident". After bleeding off the juice from the estate grapes for our family’s port wine production, winemaker Jason decided the blended juice would make a great rosé. Our first thought was that it would be a wonderful house wine for our own consumption during summer but when a custom crush client wanted to saignée his Napa Valley fruit as well, we suddenly had more high quality juice to blend and ferment. Enough to officially bottle and share with others! Since this was a new family venture for us, we decided that the name should reflect who we are and our goals for successfully creating a high quality wine that people will enjoy year after year. The name “Brick” is a blend of our daughter Bridget and our son Nick, and “Angel” is short for Angelique. Jason’s name did not make the label but his contribution is what is inside the bottle!
After the success of our inaugural 2005 Rosé, we are happy to announce the release of our second vintage of Rosé along with our second vintage of Sauvignon Blanc and a new Red Blend christened Littlefoot.
2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Mello Vineyard, Napa Valley
The fruit for this wine is all sourced from the small Mello Vineyard in Yountville and includes a variety of different sauvignon blanc clones. The fruit was whole cluster pressed and fermented in both stainless steel tank and neutral oak barrels where it remained until final blending in February 2007.
The bright, crisp, citrus flavors of this Sauvignon Blanc finish with some grassy notes and hints of tropical melon. Serve Brick Angel Sauvignon Blanc well chilled and try pairings such as scallops, grilled shrimp, tuna, or spicy Thai dishes.
2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Rose, Napa Valley
The Cabernet Sauvignon used in the 2006 Rosé comes from a few vineyards in Napa Valley, the majority of it from Mt. Veeder and some from St. Helena. The mountain fruit lends some nice tannins which complements the bright fruitiness. A bit of Yountville Syrah is blended in as well, giving a well-rounded mouth feel to the wine.
You will enjoy this wine any time of the day for its crisp acidity and fruit forward taste. The aromas of peach, strawberry, and melon give way to bright flavors of cherry and spice. The Brick Angel Rosé should also be chilled and is great with curried dishes, salmon, oytsers, ham, Greek food, or just an everyday lunch in the sun!
2006 Littlefoot, St. Barthelemy Vineyard, Napa Valley
Three of our favorite grapes all in one bottle! A beautiful red blend, our inaugural vintage of Littlefoot is 50% Petite Sirah, 25% Syrah, and 25% Zinfandel, all grown on our family’s estate vines, the small 6 acre St. Barthelemy Vineyard. The Petite Sirah offers a lovely rich cocoa and black cherry aroma while the Syrah lends delicious raspberry and cherry truffle flavors. The Zinfandel adds a peppery touch to this extremely smooth and well balanced wine. The wine was aged in 100% new French cooperage and leaves you with a lingering oaky vanilla finish. One word: Mmmmmm.
This wine is dedicated to a happy surprise, Natalie Claire, whose brother nicknamed her “Littlefoot” before she ever saw the light of day.
